  • You’re an adult (18+) dealing with addiction — alcohol, meth, chemsex, opioids, or other substances and want a welcoming environment.
  • You’ve tried outpatient therapy, willpower — and it wasn’t enough
  • You have commercial insurance (Carelon, Anthem, Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, Beacon, Evernorth, United Healthcare/Optum. — we verify for free)
  • You need more than an hour a week — you need structured, daily, round-the-clock care in a place that understands your life

This Program Is For You If:

What Is Residential Treatment?

If you’ve been managing addiction with an hour of therapy a week — and it’s not enough — that doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. It means you deserve a higher level of support.

Residential treatment means you live with us. You wake up in a safe environment. You see your clinical team daily. You’re surrounded by people who understand your life — not just your addiction.

It’s not a hospital. It’s not a locked ward. It’s four luxury homes on 22 acres in Laurel Canyon — where you can finally focus on recovery without the noise of everyday life pulling you back into old patterns.

We Know Where You Are Right Now

Whether you’re reaching out for yourself or someone you love — you’re here because you’re ready for something to change.

You might be dealing with some of this:

  • You’ve tried to quit before — maybe more than once — and it hasn’t stuck. The shame makes it harder each time.
  • You went to a rehab that said they were “LGBTQ-friendly” but you spent the whole time explaining your life instead of working on recovery.
  • The substance use and the sexual behavior are tangled together, and you don’t know how to talk about one without the other.
  • You’re carrying more than anyone around you realizes — and you’re running out of ways to manage it alone.
  • Your partner or your family is scared. They want to help but they don’t know how.

If any of that sounds familiar — you’re not failing. You’re someone who deserves treatment that actually fits your life.

That’s exactly what Breathe was built for.

Why Breathe Is Different

Lesbian- and gay-owned and operated. 85–95% of our patients are LGBTQIA+. Everything — from the therapeutic approach to the daily experience — was designed for people like you.

Built by Our Community, for Our Community

Your Insurance Probably Covers This

Breathe Life Healing Centers is in-network with major insurance carriers, including:

We’ll verify your benefits before you ever commit to anything.

Breathe Life Healing Centers isn’t a facility that added an “LGBTQIA+-friendly” program. We are part of the community. The staff. The leadership. The patients alongside you.

Crystal Clear™ — Chemsex & Meth Recovery

A specialized curriculum that addresses what most programs won’t touch — the intersection of substance use, sexual behavior, shame, and identity. Covers withdrawal psychology, emotional regulation, and building a sex-positive recovery plan.

Complex Trauma Integration

Addiction doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Your treatment addresses the trauma underneath — discrimination, rejection, family rupture, violence — woven into every phase of your recovery.

Joint Commission Accredited — The Highest Standard

Breathe Life Healing Centers holds the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval. Clinical processes, safety standards, and patient outcomes are independently verified. Operating since 2013.

Four private homes on 22 acres. Pool, gardens, mountain views. This is where recovery happens.

Why Breathe Exists

Founded by community members who saw a gap that no one else was filling — LGBTQIA+ people who needed addiction treatment didn’t have a residential program designed around their lives. Not just “affirming.” Not a checkbox. Built from the ground up by and for the community.

The clinical team specializes in the intersection of identity, trauma, and substance use — chemsex, complex trauma, shame cycles, and family rejection. This is what they do every day. It’s not an add-on. It’s the core of the program.

Patient Stories

Kelly

Breathe has been an integral part in my ongoing healing and recovery. The staff are knowledgeable and genuine in their care. It was truly a spiritual experience from the inside out. I’ve carried what I learned there with me into relationships and experiences throughout my recovery. So very happy with my time at Breathe.

PATIENT

Babbi

A family member was struggling with an eating disorder as well as alcoholism. I called all over the country and at that time Breathe was the only treatment center that said they would do this. My family member admitted, stayed for 100+ days, and left firmly planted in recovery. They continue, now several years later, with ongoing recovery.

LOVED ONE

Matt

With the help of my counselor and groups at Breathe Life Healing Center I was able to process my trauma from issues I faced growing up as a gay boy in the 1980's to an abusive romantic relationship as a young adult. The trauma and shame that I grew up with fueled my lack of self worth and my I used drugs and alcohol to numb myself.

Does my insurance cover treatment at Breathe Life Healing Centers?

We’re in-network with Carelon, Anthem, Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, United Healthcare/Optum, Evernorth and Beacon. We verify your benefits before you commit to anything — no surprises. Call us at or fill out the form above and we’ll check for you.

Insurance verification does not guarantee coverage. Benefits vary by plan.

Is this really an LGBTQIA+ program — or just “affirming”?
It’s not a label we added to a general program. 85–95% of our patients are LGBTQIA+. The facility is lesbian- and gay-owned and operated. Our clinical team specializes in the specific challenges our community faces — chemsex, complex trauma, identity-related shame, family rejection. You won't be the 'one LGBTQ person' in a room full of people who don't get it. Straight-identifying patients who want treatment in an affirming, identity-conscious environment are always welcome.
What levels of care do you offer?
Detox, residential treatment, and partial hospitalization (PHP). Your clinical team determines the right path based on your needs during your assessment. We do not accept Medi-Cal or Medicare.
What happens after I fill out the form?

Someone from our admissions team will call you — usually within an hour during business hours. The call is confidential. There’s no obligation. We’ll answer your questions, talk through what’s going on, and if it makes sense, verify your insurance.

I’ve tried treatment before and it didn’t work. Why would this be different?

Most programs aren’t built for the LGBTQIA+ community. If your last program didn’t understand your life — your relationships, your identity, the specific ways trauma and substance use intersect — it wasn’t the right fit. Breathe Life Healing Centers was designed from the ground up for exactly that.
